When the door slams

That one mile by two mile box I serve in as a missionary.
And the multiple appointments that cancel.
And the icy roads we walk on.
People that don't follow through.
And the phone calls that don't return.
I remember I live in the Mormon Capital of the world,
of course everyone has heard this message before.

Things Not Seen

Think nothing of the hundreds of miles between you and the hard surface of the earth.
Relying on resistance of the laws of gravity by a series of electric instruments that propel you at hundreds of miles to your desired destination.

Seek Him

how do you know God is real?

How do you know the wind is there?

Sure you can read it in a book and have all of the scientific facts and evidence, but until you feel the wind blow for yourself. How would you describe it to others? Windy?

You can't see it,
but you can feel it.

Imagine your life journey as marathon, and we run from one destination to the next,
full of wonderful things such as our families, educational advancements, and career opportunities, sports games, various forms of entertainment, with our ear buds jammed in our ear canals playing wonderful tunes, and experiences with our close circle of friends, with many beautiful places to travel.

In the midst of our life journey...

Would be able to notice the gentle whispering breeze?

Only if we stopped and listened.
God works the same way.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I and the rest of the members hold a  unique perspective of this life close to our hearts.

That our lives did not begin at birth, and does not end at death.
God is our Father. We are His children. He loves us.
Life is a journey to be filled with wonderful moments and experiences.
And our life is a test. To prove ourselves to return back to him someday.
Heartbreak and sorrow occur.
But in the midst of the broken moments, when we do falter, when are unsure.

We are commanded by a loving Father.
To seek Him.

Romans 8:16

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."

Jeremiah 29:13:
"And ye shall seek me, and find me,
when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

"...seeking God with all our hearts implies much more than simply offering a prayer or pronouncing a few words inviting God into our lives....We increase our love for our Heavenly Father and demonstrate that love by aligning our thoughts and actions with God’s word.

His pure love directs and encourages us to become more pure and holy.

It inspires us to walk in righteousness—not out of fear or obligation but out of an earnest desire to become even more like Him because we love Him.

. The first step to walking in righteousness is simply to try.
We must try to believe... and do the things He asks of us. Try and keep on trying until that which seems difficult becomes possible—and that which seems only possible becomes habit and a real part of you.

Not only do we seek Him for help.
But I have hope and assurance knowing.
He wants me to come back.
He is not there to fix what is broken,
but to guide us,
raise us from our mortal sight,
and fill us with His love.

We then in turn share that love with others.
And that is what I am doing here on a mission.

Questions to consider:

What evidence do you have of God's love?
What do you feel your purpose in life is?
Who do you know that could benefit from this message?
